Toronto (The Hawk): Megha Thakur, an Indo-Canadian TikToker known for promoting body acceptance and self-confidence, went late last week "suddenly" and "unexpectedly," according to an Instagram statement by her parents.
The 21-year-old TikTok influencer from Brampton who had 93,000 followers passed away last week.
She was a native of Madhya Pradesh's Indore.
Megha Thakur's parents announced her sudden death on Instagram, writing, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the light of our life, our lovely, caring, and beautiful daughter, Megha Thakur, suddenly and unexpectedly went away on November 24, 2022 in the early morning hours."
"Megha was a self-assured, independent teenager. Her absence will be deeply felt. She cherished her followers, and she would have wanted you to be aware of her passing. We are now asking for your blessings on Megha. She will be in your thoughts and prayers as she continues on her path."
Her death's reason was kept a secret.
On Tuesday, a memorial service was held in her honour.
"I constantly reminded Megha of how powerful she was in the influencer community and how many women looked up to her. Too soon, we lost an angel "In response to the post, one Instagram user wrote.
"When I was having a hard time, her words gave me so much hope and encouragement. She has always been flawlessly lovely on the inside and out. I'm sorry for your loss and pray for peace for her "Added a different Instagram user.
Megha has around 101,000 followers on Instagram, where she was extremely active.
On November 18, she uploaded a final TikTok video with the caption: "Your future is in YOUR hands. Observe that."
Megha was seen in the video moving around the streets of New York while donning a tiny dress made of grey and beige, white sandals, and dark sunglasses.
In 2019, she obtained her diploma from Mayfield Secondary School, and she began creating TikTok videos.
Her first video had 60,000 views and almost 3,000 likes.
