New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Member of Parliament Malook Nagar expressed support for the extension of the budget session of Parliament and the introduction of 'white paper' on economy.
"It is a welcome move because the Members of Parliament, who contest elections, come to work in the Parliament. It's a positive aspect that those who present themselves through elections are now participating in parliamentary proceedings. However, it is notable that the opposition has obstructed the last 5-6 sessions" the BSP MP said.
"The fact that they are now bringing 'white papers' is good, revealing the performance of past governments. Similarly, in the coming times, the current government's performance will also be presented before everyone," MP Malook Nagar added.
"The more work done, the better it is for the people and the country, making it a worthy and positive development," he further said.
The government had announced in the union budget presented on February 1 that it will come out with 'White Paper' to compare the economic performance of 10 years of the Congress-led UPA government with that of 10 years of the BJP-led NDA government.
Tabling the interim budget 2024-25 in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Modi government, which assumed office in 2014, overcame crisis of those years and the economy has been put firmly on a high sustainable growth path.
The budget session, which is the last Parliament session before Lok Sabha polls expected in April-May this year, was slated to conclude on February 9.
