Indian Railway gives priority to passenger safety, invests 54 pc more funds on it

New Delhi: The Indian Railway has increased its spending on passenger safety by almost 54% in the past five months, when compared to the same period last year.

Between April 1 and August 31, the railway ministry claimed a lot of money was spent on safety and infrastructure initiatives like new lines, doubling, gauge change, and improving passenger amenities.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Railway, "approximately 48 per cent capital expenditure utilisation" has been seen so far in the first five months of current financial year till August 2023.—Inputs from Agencies
